Vangear is a long established campervan company, we are a manufacturer of campervan pods and retail online. Our camper pods use unique and original designs and therefore the Vangear campervan conversion necessitated thinking outside the box too. In a move away from the traditional down the side of the van furniture used for years in campervans, but taking some inspiration from the original Volkswagen California Beach we have thought long and hard about which set up we would use. We will try to use the next few pages to explain the Vangear “Space” concept in five base points.

The main reason to move away from the traditional down the side of the van furniture set up is the available space in bed, i have found that older set up claustrophobic. By going for a low level blanket box combined with a RIB rock & roll bed we have formed a full width bed. An important aspect is ventilation, light and movement of air. Vangear has fitted a safari window which opens upwards allowing full ventilation even when raining, there is also a vent setting. There are front door vents and a solar vent too. A light and airy feeling is created by fitted windows all around, keeping in touch with a 360’ landscape view. Space Concept #2 Sociable Space & easy set up
By combining a twin swiveling passenger seat with the RIB seat and the side mounted blanket box we have created a “U” spaced living area. The twin swiveling seat uses levers not bolts so the process of rotating the seat is easier. Pull both levers, rotate the seat and you have a wide rear facing seat with a convenient table at hand clipped on to the CRX-POD. The blanket box has a pair of cushions for seating and also at night time to make up the spacious bed. The RIB rock & roll bed is NCAP certificated with integral seat belts and Isofix, adjustable headrests and a tilting rear leaf. Again the easy operation of the bed and seat make transforming your campervan into night time mode simple and fast.
Space Concept #3 Storage
An important aspect is storage, you need room to put stuff! We have spent time with our design to maximize available storage areas.
Rear euro box trays with lids which can easily be removed and taken into your home to be filled with food etc and transferred to the camper. This pair of trays sit on top of the Tailgate-Pod under the tilting rear leaf of the RIB. The side blanket box has a large storage area under the cushions at the rear and at the front. Access is via hinged doors under the cushions leading to a surprisingly large area. Under the RIB seat is a large area ideal for bedding. The front leaf of the bed tilts up and you have ample room to fit your sleeping bag etc Under the twin passenger seat which tilts up to expose the under seat area. The CRX-POD has a fridge for food and a rear cupboard area.
Vangear Space concept #4 Cooking
We all love food and part of the camping experience is food. With the “Space” set up we have taken experience from many camping trips to realize that campervan cooking is both an indoor and outdoor thing. Coming from England, when it is raining and the wind is up, I want to make a cup of tea in my van. For this the CRX-Pod has your back, there is a fridge, stove and a sink. On a sunny evening who wouldn't want to cook outdoors? The Vangear Tailgate-Pod helps you up here with a double burner and grill.

For such a conversion we picked the Volkswagen T6.1 Transporter, we wanted a platform that you can be proud of. The T6.1 is a durable and low depreciation platform that in our view offers significant improvements over the previous versions. They ( Volkswagen !) put the A team on the T6.1, starting with the T5 / T6 platform with its high standards of longevity VW improved the handling and refinement. With a new front subframe and steering rake the steering and handling is transformed. Adding a better feel for the clutch and brakes, combined with better lights means this is a logical and practical choice for your next campervan to explore planet Earth.
